Fleet Canada and Fort Erie Economic Development & Tourism Corporation (FEDTC) are proud to announce the first Scholarship to Josh Wood of Ridgeway.
Fleet and FEDTC want to partner to promote Advanced Manufacturing as a career choice for students in South Niagara. Each year $2,000 will be awarded to a local student who is interested in Advanced Manufacturing and planning to enter College or University in a related field.
As Fleet and FEDTC work with manufacturers across the Region we continually hear about employers looking for employees that are engaged, hard workers and willing to learn. We often hear that many hire those with good soft skills; good communication skills and a basic skill set. “The rest we can train for” is a common refrain. We hope, in the years to come, that this scholarship attracts more talented young people to the field of Advanced Manufacturing.
Applications were received from Fort Erie Secondary School and The District School Board of Niagara Academy. This year’s award recipient is a resident of Ridgeway and is planning to attend Niagara College in the fall to study Civil Engineering.
Fleet and FEDTC wishes to thank all of the students who expressed an interest in the scholarship. All candidates were worthy and motivated. We wish them all much success in their future endeavors.
For more information about the scholarship, students in grade 12 at Fort Erie Secondary School and NDSB Academy are asked to contact their guidance counselors.
