Fleet representatives traveled to Boeing Philadelphia to attend CH-47F Block II EMD Final Assembly Load & MH-47G Lot 1 Contract Award Ceremony. The Boeing and the U.S. Army had celebrated a major CH-47F Block II program milestone with the loading of the first engineering and manufacturing development helicopter into final assembly on June 27. Fleet is contracted to provide major assembly components on both, the CH-47F Block II EMD and MH-47G aircraft.
The Block II program incorporates several upgrades to the helicopter to increase lift capability, including Advanced Chinook Rotor Blades, an upgraded fuselage, new fuel system, and new drivetrain. These updates greatly increase the commonality between U.S. Army and allied fleets, thus reducing maintenance costs. The first delivery of a production Block II Chinook to the Army is expected in 2023.
